Is Satisfactory Cross-Platform? Steam, Epic, Console (2026)

Is Satisfactory Cross-Platform? (2026 Crossplay Status)

Last updated: 4 November 2026

Short answer: Yes, since 4 November 2026. Update v1.2.5.0 added crossplay between PC and console: Steam, Epic, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series players can now share a session, through Epic Online Services and an Epic Games account. Two limits remain: dedicated servers are PC-only, so console players cannot join one, and there is no cross-progression, so a save stays on the platform of the player who hosts it.

How Satisfactory Crossplay Works

Coffee Stain built Satisfactory's networking on top of Epic Online Services (EOS), and since v1.2.5.0 on 4 November 2026 EOS also carries crossplay between PC and console. Crossplay across all platforms needs the EOS backend and an Epic Games account, and on PlayStation and Xbox an Epic account is needed to host or join any multiplayer session. On Steam you can instead play on Steam's own backend, but then only with other Steam players. Coffee Stain's crossplay FAQ has the details.

  • You can host a session from any platform. To join across platforms, both players link the account they play on (Steam, PlayStation or Xbox) to an Epic account and are friends on Epic as well; the host's session then shows in the Join Game menu.
  • Dedicated servers (PC Windows or Linux) register with EOS and appear in the in-game server browser for Steam and Epic clients. Console players cannot use dedicated servers.
  • Saves cannot be shared between Xbox, PlayStation and PC: v1.2.5.0 brought crossplay, not cross-progression, so a save stays on the host's platform. On PC, the Steam and Epic versions use the same save format, so a PC save works in either store's version.

How to Invite a Friend to Your Satisfactory Game

Crossplay only helps once friends can actually join. The flow is the same whether you bought the game on Steam or the Epic Games Store, because both sign into Epic Online Services:

  1. Set the session to Online. Load your save, press Esc, open Session, and set Session Type to Online (Friends Only or Public).
  2. Make sure accounts are linked. Steam and Epic players see each other once both have signed into Epic Online Services, and Steam buyers linked an Epic account when first prompted. Linked EOS friends appear in the in-game friends list across both PC stores.
  3. Invite from the in-game friends list. Open the friends panel, find the player, and send the invite. They accept and drop straight into your world, with no IP address or port forwarding for a hosted session.
  4. Or share the Session ID. If a friend is not in your list, give them your Session ID and have them use Join by Session ID. This is the reliable path for cross-store friends who are not linked as EOS friends. Console players invite each other the same way; across PC and console, the session appears in your friend's Join Game menu once you are friends on Epic too.
  5. For an always-on world, use a dedicated server. A peer-hosted session ends the moment the host quits. A managed dedicated server registers with EOS and stays joinable by Steam and Epic players around the clock.

If an invite fails, the usual cause is a version mismatch after a patch, so confirm both players are on the same build. Also check that the host's session is set to Online and that a strict NAT or firewall is not blocking the connection.

Why the Co-Op Design Helps Crossplay

Satisfactory has no PvP, no leaderboards, and no competitive ranked mode. That means:

  • Input parity does not matter. A controller player and a mouse-and-keyboard player are not competing for the same kill.
  • Balance patches do not need to consider platform fairness, only single-player progression.
  • So PC and console players can share a factory with no fairness concerns, which is what v1.2.5.0 made possible on 4 November 2026.

Mod Support and Crossplay Limits

Mods are PC-only. The Satisfactory Mod Manager (SMM) and the Ficsit.app mod registry exist only for PC, and game mods are not available on the console release, because neither console allows installing outside files.

That makes mods the line between PC-only and mixed sessions. Everyone in a multiplayer session needs the same mods, and consoles cannot install any, so only unmodded sessions can mix PC and console players. A group of Steam and Epic players is not limited this way: both stores run the same build, so everyone installs the same mod set through SMM before joining a modded server.

Hosting Options for Mixed-Platform Groups

Dedicated PC server (recommended for Steam and Epic groups)

Coffee Stain's Linux dedicated server registers with EOS and accepts Steam and Epic players. Lowest latency, highest factory size headroom, and nobody's PC has to stay on to keep the world alive.

Console-hosted session

One PlayStation or Xbox player hosts directly from the game, and other console players join through the friends list or a Session ID. Since v1.2.5.0, PC players can join that session too, once they are friends on Epic. There is no dedicated server option on console, so the world is only online while the host plays.

PC-hosted session

Same as a console host, with much more headroom, and console friends can join it through crossplay as long as it runs no mods. Closing the host's game ends the session, so a managed Satisfactory dedicated server is the better choice when you want the factory ticking 24/7 whether or not anyone is online.

A group split between PC and console can now share one world, but only in a session hosted by one of its players, and only while that player is in the game. A dedicated server keeps a world online around the clock, for the group's PC players.

Common Questions

Can I move my Steam save to PS5?

No. v1.2.5.0 brought crossplay but not cross-progression: a save stays on the platform of the player who hosts it. The consoles keep saves on their own file systems, tied to a console user profile.

Does crossplay work on the experimental branch?

Between Steam and Epic, yes, as long as both players run the same experimental build; a mismatch ends in "version mismatch". Console editions only receive stable updates, so crossplay with a console player needs the PC player on the same stable version. Since 4 November 2026, Experimental and Stable carry the same build, v1.2.5.0.

Are there any platform-specific features that break crossplay?

No mechanic features differ across platforms. The only differences are input mappings (controller vs keyboard prompts), graphics options (PC has more presets and ultrawide support) and mods, which only PC has. Game mechanics, recipes, and progression are identical, which is why PC and console players can share a session since v1.2.5.0, as long as it runs no mods.

Will Coffee Stain ever support PvP or ranked play?

Coffee Stain has stated repeatedly that Satisfactory is a co-op factory builder and PvP is not on the roadmap.

Frequently asked questions

Is Satisfactory cross-platform in 2026?

Yes, since 4 November 2026. Update v1.2.5.0 added crossplay between PC and console, so Steam, Epic, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series players can share a session through Epic Online Services with an Epic Games account. Dedicated servers stay PC-only, and saves stay on the host's platform.

Can Steam and Epic Satisfactory players play together?

Yes. Coffee Stain unified Steam and Epic accounts under Epic Online Services since launch. A Steam buyer and an Epic buyer can join the same dedicated server or session without any extra setup. Save files are also portable between the two PC clients.

Can PS5 and Xbox Satisfactory players play together?

Yes. Since the console release on 4 November 2025, PlayStation and Xbox players can join each other's sessions. An Epic Games account is needed to host or join multiplayer, on console as on PC.

Can PC and console Satisfactory players play together?

Yes, since v1.2.5.0 on 4 November 2026, in a session hosted by one of the players. Both need an Epic Games account linked to the platform they play on and must be friends on Epic; the session then shows in the Join Game menu. It has to be an unmodded session, and a console player still cannot join a dedicated server.

Does Satisfactory have cross-progression?

Only between the two PC stores: a save works in both the Steam and the Epic version. Crossplay with consoles does not change this: saves cannot be shared between Xbox, PlayStation and PC, and mods are PC-only.

Can I host a dedicated Satisfactory server that accepts PC and console players?

No. Dedicated servers are only supported on PC, so a rented Satisfactory server is for Steam and Epic players. A group with console players plays crossplay in a session hosted by one of its players.
