Echoes of Elysium Roadmap 2026: Tempest Weather and Controller Support Shipped

Loric Games publishes an unusually specific short-term roadmap for Echoes of Elysium, and has been hitting it. The v0.20.0 Tempest weather update landed on 20 August 2026, and v0.21.0 Controller Support, the next version on that roadmap, followed on 3 November 2026.

Last verified: 4 November 2026. Every date below is from the studio’s own posts; nothing here is inferred.

The short version: v0.20.0 Tempest, the rain and weather update, released 20 August 2026. v0.21.0 Controller Support followed on 3 November 2026, after a Controller Support Beta on its own Steam branch from 23 September. v0.22.0 Airship Combat and NPC improvements was named on the earlier roadmap and has no date.

What Tempest changed

This is a systems update, not a cosmetic one, and it changes how airships are built:

  • Rain interacts directly with your ship and everything on it
  • Wet ship pieces and stored items gain weight and drag
  • Certain stations can be inoperable if they are soaked through
  • A moodier rainy atmosphere to match

The studio frames it as changing how you approach travel: you now make decisions in flight about how to build and structure the airship to withstand conditions. On a shared server, that means existing community ships may behave differently after the update than they did before it.

The published roadmap

Loric Games attaches a Short Term Roadmap to its patch notes. As published:

  • v0.20.0: Weather, rain and wind (shipped 20 August 2026)
  • v0.21.0: Controller support (shipped 3 November 2026)
  • v0.22.0: Airship combat and NPC improvements

The studio marks it “subject to change” every time it publishes it, and has been transparent that controller support is genuinely difficult rather than being held back. No date was attached to 0.21.0 before it shipped, and none is attached to 0.22.0.

Two things have moved since. The short-term roadmap attached to the v0.20.1 patch notes on 27 August lists only v0.21.0 Controller Support. And on 23 September Loric Games opened the Controller Support Beta: an experimental build on the experimental-controller branch (Steam, Properties, Game Versions & Betas), which the studio says is not the final version of controller support. A developer stream of the beta ran on 30 September and its feedback survey closed on 4 October.

v0.21.0 brought controller support to the live version on 3 November 2026: Xbox and PlayStation controllers in menus and gameplay, switching between controller and keyboard and mouse at any point, button prompts that match the device in use, separate control legends for the helm, turret, winch and building, and rebindable controls. An on-screen keyboard for typing character and world names on a controller is still to come. The same update changes how the server loads zones and world objects to reduce hitches, and the dedicated server received it the same day (Steam build 26414991).

What server admins should plan for

The pattern here is small versions arriving steadily, each with a real systems change:

  • Back up before each version bump. v0.19.2 and v0.19.3 were both quality-of-life and crash fixes; v0.20.0 changed flight physics, and v0.20.1 on 27 August fixed missing terrain on Arid, Headlands and Shattered Shoals islands and a rare crash in the voxel engine. The version number does not tell you the blast radius.
  • Keep everyone on one branch. Controller support is part of the live version since v0.21.0, so no player needs the beta for it. Multiplayer between the old Controller Support Beta and the live public version is not supported, so a player still on a beta build cannot join a server on the public build.
  • Mind the world seed. Loric Games lists a known issue in v0.21.0: Mehkanos does not spawn in worlds made with the Fabricator seed, so a community that wants to fight Mehkanos should start its world on a different seed.
  • Warn builders before weather lands. Anything that adds weight and drag when wet is a change your community’s ship designs did not account for.
  • Airship combat is coming. v0.22.0 is named. When it arrives, expect PvP-adjacent questions on shared servers.

Where the news appears

Loric Games posts patch notes and an “Elysian Report” series to the Echoes of Elysium Steam news feed. The Reports are behind-the-scenes previews between major patches, and the short-term roadmap is appended to the patch notes themselves, which makes the Steam feed the single reliable source.

Bottom line

Echoes of Elysium is one of the few Early Access games that publishes its next two versions by name and then ships them. Tempest is live and it changes ship handling; controller support shipped in v0.21.0 on 3 November, and airship combat was named for v0.22.0 on the earlier roadmap, with no date yet.
